It’s sometimes a delicate thing to keep your fingers tough when playing stringed instruments. Playing an average of 8 shows a month oughtta do the trick. But, this is just an average.
This month off from playing shows greatly lessens the time spent with guitar in hand, whereas september had us working 3-4 hour nights for 15 out of it’s 30 days. Without the regular gigging, one’s practices at home rarely yield a 3 hour session, while a full workload will seldom give the full time musician’s appendages respite.
There’s a balance somewhere, but this is something I’ll need to figure out some other time. For right now, keeping my fingers tough on this month-long sabbatical is priority.
Time to hit the weight room.
